I find going to Richmond super stressful cause there are too many restaurants to choose from! However Tsim Chai is one of my go to fried rice and noodle joints. The portions are decent sized, and the prices are on average around $12-$15. There is great "wok flavour" when the noodles and rice are stir fried - this is a skill and you don't get this at most places.

I've eaten lunch here a couple times and it's always super busy, so be sure to go early. I've also tried some of their soup noodles including wonton and beef brisket. Good portions and is super satisfying. Definitely a solid option if you're craving fried rice and noodle dishes!

Home cooked meal while dining out. Great tasting food. Portions are good. Price is right. Lovely wood table tops.

    Con: Parking is a nightmare.

    Note: cash only

We happened upon Tsim Chai Noodle Restaurant during a bicycle journey yesterday.

A 90 minute sky train trip, one side of metro Vancouver to the other, was 'challenging' (no washrooms).

We were well pleased with our late lunch experience:

    Welcomed warmly.
Invited to bring our bikes INSIDE the restaurant for safety.
Given both water and hot tea, AND...

    lagniappe !
Prior to arrival of our selections from their extensive menu,
    Complimentary SOUP (lai tong)
Tomato, pork bones, cabbage, carrot = hearty and delicious.

Hot pot of Satay beef, veggies, a yin n yang experience, sweet pineapple bits with the pungent, satisfying.

Singapore style noodles beautifully executed, served hot, spicy, textures good, dryish, crunchy bean sprouts = a treat.

    House made chili oil delish.

    Service friendly and helpful.

Clean and tidy comfortable dining room / wash facilities were MUCH appreciated.

    Value @ CDN$ 35 plus ++ okay.

We recommend this mom n pop shop Cantonese restaurant and would return to sample more menu choices.

    4 stars.

This Hong Kong restaurant serves lunch with a drink as a combo. It's not really busy during Sunday noon. They serve food very quickly. The portion is enough for me to get full (but keep in mind I'm an Asian woman so I might eat less than normal).

They take cash and I don't see major banks around so be sure to have some cash before you go.

The Satay Beef Stir-fried noodle is a bit plain but the Beef Tendon and Wonton Noodle Soup is really good.

In terms of restaurant feel, I think it's good for family and friends, or casual occasions.

I still think "魚蛋河" tastes better in Hong Kong than any place I've tried in Canada so far. This meal is usually really cheap and fast. People in Hong Kong would eat this when they are in a rush and 茶餐廳 always sell this by the street everywhere. It's a tasty quick meal which I've missed. This place makes it the most similar to how good it is in Hong Kong! The restaurant fits the norm of a "港式茶餐廳" and makes any traditional Chinese dishes you can think of.  I like coming here when I miss the taste of real Hong Kong food. It's only been 3 months since I've been in Hong Kong but I already miss it there...
